Boycott AG? For or Against and why...

I don't think a single thing of science has ever disproven anything about religion or the Bible. Anything that supposedly has is a "theory" and thus unproven (otherwise it would be a law). I think that science, rather than contradicting or disproving Christianity, actually supports and uplifts it.

As for people with your opinion posting on the board... tell your friends and people on the other boards, etc. They're welcome to post here, too. [img]smile.gif[/img]

Weellll, with science, its kind of an organic thing. Its always changing as they find out new information. So no, nothing will ever be a concrete law. But there is no science that can totally prove the existence of god unless you get into intelligent design theory which is more theology than science anyway. I dont necessarily think Christianity contradicts the bible-except for evolution and creation-but I definitely dont think it supports it either. As of now, science supports the big bang theory. No, that is not set in stone. Just a theory. But in the same token, nothing other than the bible proves creationism to be correct.

Anyway, the only board I frequent on a regular basis is the SOAGC, soooooo, it looks like I will be alone for awhile, LOL [img]confused.gif[/img]

Just because you can't "prove" the existence of God in a way that non-Christians will accept doesn't mean He isn't there.
No one has ever seen a proton...part of the atom...those things that everyone agrees make up the matter in the universe. Yet everyone thinks they are there. I don't know anyone who disagrees with that.
Why accept protons and atoms when you can't accept the existence of God? Because there is "scientific evidence" that the protons exist? I submit that just looking in the mirror will give you evidence that God exists. Looking around you anywhere will giev you evidence that God exists.

That's my opinion.

But of course, we can't "prove" God's existence in any way that non-Christians will accept...otherwise there would be no need for faith and faith is very important.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Exactly. It ultimately comes down to a matter of faith. Thats why I think intelligent design is such a cop out. Its bad science that relys on religion to explain things. And it seems funny that people of faith need science to prove their beliefs are correct.

As for the atom and proton thing. Well, nobody may or may not have seen them. But there is more than just hardcore evidence to support their existence. On the other hand, there is little hardcore, factual proof of any sort of god. That relies entirely on faith, like we just said above.

BTW, I thought it would be good to add that I am NOT an athiest. I know I can sometimes come off as one, but Im not. I dont like the word 'god' and dont often use it because to me it denotes patriarchy and an old bearded man sitting on a throne judging everyone. I think of it in terms of a great spiritual entity that connects us all.

If people aren't Christian they shouldn't be celebrating Christmas. Period. Think about it. If you are not Jewish, does your family sit around on Hanakkuh, playing dreidel games and lighting candles? No, because that's not your religion, not your holiday. I don't think people who aren't Christians should be celebrating Christmas. That doesn't make any sense to me.

Also, about judging others. Well, if you have a religion and you believe in it, then you think that's the only religion thats true. If you don't, then you don't have much faith in your religion. I mean, it wouldn't make sense to say, "I'm Jewish, but I think the Catholic religion is the true one"...I mean, you have to believe your faith is the true faith, otherwise it wouldn't be your real faith.
So...why SHOULDN'T we think people are wrong for doing things that aren't biblical? That is OUR belief. We think it is wrong because it says it is wrong in our Bible. You may not think it wrong, and that is fine, but according to our religion it is wrong and therefore we will think it is wrong.

And, we ARE SUPPOSED to love the sinner but hate the sin. If that's judging them, then so be it.
We have standards, and according to our religion, we think everyone should follow them. That doesn't mean they have to, but in our religion it is wrong so we believe it is wrong.

Its like, there's a group I know in my town and they think its wrong for women to wear pants, and they always wear long skirts. Well, when I am around them they might be thinking, "she is wrong for doing that, she is going against God" or something like that. That is what they believe. Of course they are going to judge me! It doesn't mean they don't like me and treat me nicely, but because of their belief, they DO think I AM doing something wrong. And I have to respect that. I don't have to believ it, I don't persoanlly think I am doing anything wrong for not wearing long skirts every day, but that is what they believe and I know they judge me as doing something bad.

If nobody "judged" anybody, then we wouldn't even have any right or wrong. There would be no basis, no morality. Our morality is based on the Bible.

I'm sorry but I am not one of those "everything is okay, everything is acceptable" people.

But don't get me wrong. I am not perfect. I do stuff wrong every day, I am human too. So this is in no way to say that I am better than them or that I think I am perfect or anything like that, so don't get the wrong idea here. I just don't want anyone to think that I am saying I am perfect because nothing could be farther from the truth.

I just wanted to say that everything I learn in science just makes me believe in God more. (Except evoluntion because I think it's ridiculus, but I guess that would be a debate for seperate thread)

The reason everything in science makes me have more faith in God is that everything in science is so exact, so complex and so perfect, that it just makes me realize more and more how powerful and amazing God is to have made all this and have it work together in harmony.

Premise 1: Anything as complex as our universe, or more complex than our universe, must have had a designer.

Premise 2: To have created our universe, God would have to be just as complex as our universe, or, more likely, even *more* complex.

Conclusion: God himself must have required a designer.

So I'm curious...who/what do you think created "God?" And who/what created *that* God-creating entity? What about the one before that? And before that?

As you can see, the argument that everything requires a "creator" or "first cause" loops back on itself infinitely.

Second, I agree with you entirely. To have total faith in a creator I think one cannot turn to science at all. It is like intelligent design theory which begs the question, well what could possibly be more complex than a supreme being? If 'god' is to have always existed since the beginning of time, then you must have simple, 100% faith in that belief for there is no science that provides factual proof. Deducing through your own logic that the world is too complicated to have evolved without a creator is fine and dandy, but that is NOT scientific proof that a god exists.
